Too often it becomes easy to get in the habit of focusing on what is going wrong in our lives and what we wish we could change. I do it too and go through those phases where life feels too hard and difficult and overwhelming. I have found one way to overcome those feelings is by being grateful.

I understand that being grateful can be hard at times. Life gets you down and you feel like nothing is going your way but I’ve learned that if we really stop and focus we can all find so many things worth being grateful for.

I’m a big believer in taking care of yourself and that you can’t help others if you don’t help yourself first. Which is why I really feel that practicing being grateful is so important. Too often we all get in the place of not feeling like we have enough. We get jealous of what others have and that feeling turns to negativity and can hurt us. The way to get back in balance and feeling good is being grateful.

Although wanting better and striving to improve yourself and your life can be a good thing and I think it’s important to reach for the best for yourself and your family. Being grateful for what you already have is important as well. It reminds you that you are lucky and are blessed in your life. Those feelings are important especially when life isn’t going well.

So I have come up with some of the many things I remind myself that I am blessed to have. These things remind me that being grateful is a great thing. That so many people don’t have what I am lucky enough to have. Here  are just a few of my blessings I know there are so much more.

1 My marriage

I have a good marriage, not perfect by any means but happy and if you are lucky enough to be in a happy and healthy relationship remember to be thankful for that.

2. My daughter

Being grateful for my daughter is my number one blessing. I think kids are such a joy and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. I hope that those of you that have kids feel the same way and that those of you that want kids are blessed with them at some point in the future.

3.Good Health

Having had a health crisis of my own and going through health problems with my husband. Trust me when I say good health is not appreciated enough. Too often it’s taken for granted and it’s not a guarantee that you will remain healthy so appreciate it when you are.

4. My pets

5. Technology

Being able to connect with family and friends, especially people I don’t live near is important and allows Bella to stay close to people who love her. Technology also allows me to blog which I love doing and am blessed with the community of my followers and other bloggers.

6. A support system

7. I have enough food to eat and clean water to drink

Always remember to be thankful for food and clean water. If you have this then you are so much luckier than way too many who go hungry and thirsty.

8.  That I have a place for my family to live

9. the ability to learn and try new things

That we are able to be who we want to be and constantly be changing. This is a wonderful freedom that not everyone on this planet is given. So sing I am I try to remember to be grateful for it. Being grateful for the freedom to keep learning and trying new things reminds me to appreciate it.

10. Fun and happiness

That I get to spend big chunks of my life doing things I enjoy and being with people I love and enjoy being around is another reason for being grateful. I hope that you can say the same about your own life. If you can’t what can I do to help you have more fun and happiness? We all deserve it.

I hope you will start taking the time to think of things you are grateful for. A great way to do this is with a gratitude journal. Below are some prompts to get you started.
