Now onto the life lessons in issue 1:

1. Fear is always with you. You have to accept it and do what your heart desires anyway.

This lesson, unintentionally, appears in two of the articles in issue 1.

Ceara Lucy, a fabulous up-and-coming bodypainting artist shares beautiful insights about putting herself and her work out into the world on social media. She has seen enormous growth in the last year since she first started this journey and now has other artists contacting her to collaborate. From a Ph.D. in psychology, she never would have seen herself on this new exciting career path had she not pushed herself to share her work with the world.

“You get nervous when something means a lot to you. And isn’t it fantastic that you have something you care about enough to get nervous?!” – Ceara Lucy

I also share my own experience with this lesson in the article ‘Taking the Leap’ which is about my terrifying bungy jumping experience and how it changed my life. This magazine wouldn’t exist if I hadn’t accepted my fears and thrown myself off that bridge.

“… what is really stopping you from doing what you want? Is that thing really scarier than not following your dreams?” – Adrianne Elizabeth

2. Find what you love and do it!

Trudi Hazlitt-Black has dedicated her life to animals in need. She works part-time at the SPCA, she also works for and runs The New Zealand Rat Rescue and spends the rest of her time looking after her many rescue pets and foster animals.

Her, her dedicated colleagues, and fellow volunteers are shining stars in the world of animal rescue. It’s not always a fun or easy job and typically the pay is not great, but, they do it anyway and the rewards are great.

No matter where your interests lie hard work in something you love always pays off. If you need some help following your dreams be sure to check out this issues journal prompts where you will explore passions you always dreamed of and start making a plan to make them happen.

“There’s not much time for me to rest. It’s all for the animals. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t love it. That’s what it comes down to” – Trudi Hazlitt-Black

3. You don’t have to leave home to have a holiday

I have had several positive comments about this particular article from our readers. It explores ideas about what a holiday is and why you don’t have to break the bank to reap the benefits of a holiday.

We talk about how to look at your home from a tourist’s perspective and enjoy it from a new angle.

“Holidays are for exploring, rejuvenating, reflecting and de-stressing. They shouldn’t be a rarity” – Adrianne Elizabeth
