Personal development is about discovering ways to grow and improve your life from people before you. Having a growth mindset and learning from others is a way more effective method to better your life than doing it all yourself and struggling through. There’s never any shame in asking for help or wanting to learn from others!

I hope you find these podcasts highly useful in your own journey. If you have favorites I’ve missed please share in the comments below. I know this community and myself are constantly looking for new happiness quest resources!

Why Listen to Podcasts?

I started listening to podcasts a little over a year ago when my audiobook addiction was getting a little too expensive. I quickly fell in love.

I remember listening to audiobooks via a tape recorder in the car on road trips with my parents when I was a kid Bill Bryson and Bad Jelly the Witch first come to mind. I loved them then but the art of listening to stories lost me somewhere in my teens.

I love podcasts because I am a fairly slow reader. I can download them and listen to them on the plane when I am too tired to read. I often listen to them when I am struggling to sleep.

For anyone who is not familiar with podcast listening here’s why you should start:

  • They’re FREE!!!
  • There is something for everyone from fiction to fact
  • They are short (usually 20-70 minutes)
  • You can listen to them on basically any device these days
  • You can download them for when you are offline

What apps can you listen to podcasts on?

There is a wide range of podcast apps to choose from. Today you can listen to a wide range of podcasts on major platforms like Spotify, Apple, Audible, and Google. Or there is a wide range of specialist podcast apps such as Podcast Player, Pocketcasts, Podcast Addict, and Radio Public, just to name a few. I personally use Castbox. I find it easy to use, and I like that it specializes in podcasts.

I have a list of podcasts I love to listen to for all sorts of moods. Here is my top list of fantastic personal development podcasts for when I am in need of some motivation and positive mindset vibes.

Now, 5 Fantastic Personal Development & Growth Podcasts

1. Limitless Lifeâ„¢ (Formerly Pursuit with Purpose) hosted by Melyssa Griffin

Melyssa Griffin was inspired to start this podcast after she felt unfulfilled even though she had a successful million dollar business.

Melyssa interviews fascinating entrepreneurs across a wide range of industries.

You definitely don’t have to be an entrepreneur to enjoy this podcast. Melyssa’s guests have something for everyone to take away.

Melyssa and her guests are people you want to listen to. Highly successful and happy. Like Melyssa, many have built their own businesses to 6 or 7-figures, then realizing they weren’t fulfilled in life, branched out into more self-help avenues. This podcast is focused on developing the right mindset to make your dreams come true.

7. The Tony Robbins Podcast

No personal development podcast list is complete without Tony Robbins cropping up somewhere. I’m not sure how I missed the worlds #1 life and business strategist first time around but here it is.

Of coarse, Tony is a busy man so the podcast is hosted by his team members but it is based on his teachings so it is super valuable none-the-less. While many of the episodes are full length around 50 minutes long I like that there are quite a few shorter one’s around the 25-35 minute mark when you only have a short time for a personal development boost

8. Sh*t They Don’t Tell You with Nikki Limo and Steve Green

Getting less serious here but this is one of my favorites so I needed to share it with you. Not quite a true personal development podcast like the others on this list, comedians Nikki Limo and Steve Green share valuable life advice so I’m chucking it in here.

As the title suggests, this podcast is about all the sh*t they don’t tell you in life. All those things you learn the hard way, but really wish someone had taken the time to tell you before you made that mistake. Topics cover everything from debt, to meditation and relationship advice. They also have episodes where listeners can write in and ask advice on anything they want.

Some podcasts are just on random topics like UFOs and Eminem but they’re always interesting and funny. I have been a bit focused on audiobooks lately rather than podcasts but I have listened to nearly every episode, and always start with this one when I want to listen to something fun.

9. Untangle hosted by Patricia Karpas and Ariel Garten

This podcast is all about mindfulness, brain health, and life. Guests share their experiences and expertise on how meditation and mindfulness practices changed their lives.

If you’re curious about mindfulness (which you should be if you’re serious about personal development), then give this podcast a listen to learn more about the highly valuable practice of meditation and self-compassion practices.
